Job description
We are seeking an experienced Neurosurgery Physician Assistant (First Assist preferred) to join a busy inpatient neurosurgery team for ongoing locum coverage. This role is focused on inpatient rounding, surgical support, and rotating call responsibilities within a high-acuity hospital setting.
This is a full-time, long-term vacancy coverage need with immediate start availability.
Job Responsibilities
First assist in neurosurgical procedures (preferred)
Manage pre-op and post-op neurosurgical patients
Participate in rotating call schedule (nights + weekends)
Collaborate with neurosurgeons and APP team
Provide clinical support in a high-volume trauma setting
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of Neurosurgery APP experience (required)
Board Certified PA/NP (required)
Experience in inpatient neurosurgery setting
Ability to work independently in high-acuity environment
Must be able to commit to minimum 2 weeks/month coverage
Working Hours
Schedule options:
Monday–Friday inpatient rounding + weekend call
OR 7 on / 7 off rotation
Call Coverage:
1:4 to 1:5 weekend call rotation
1:4 to 1:5 night call rotation
Must be available for minimum 2 weeks per month
Skills
Inpatient hospital rounding experience
Ability to manage complex neuro patients (adult + pediatric)
Comfort with trauma-level acuity cases
Strong communication with multidisciplinary teams
Experience in surgical assisting (preferred/first assist)
Ability to manage call responsibilities effectively
