Cardiac Surgery Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant opening in CT Located in Bridgeport, CT Full-Time, Permanent Practice Overview:
- Full-time Cardiac Surgery APP opportunity in Bridgeport, Connecticut
- Open to Physician Assistants and Acute Care Nurse Practitioners
- Inpatient cardiac surgical services setting
- Join a busy and growing Department of Cardiac Surgery
- Work under the direction of cardiothoracic surgeons
- Support patient care from admission through discharge across the OR, ICU, and stepdown units
- Responsibilities include first assisting in cardiovascular surgical procedures, preoperative H&Ps, postoperative care, ICU and stepdown management, and inpatient consults
- Endoscopic vessel harvesting experience preferred
- Manage patients with varied critical illness, including comprehensive physical assessments, diagnostic interpretation, hemodynamic and ventilator management, and invasive procedures
- Skills with arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, and feeding tubes preferred but not required
- Schedule: 13-hour shifts, 3 shifts per week
- Rotating schedule includes day, evening, night, weekend, and holiday coverage
- Permanent night shift option may be available
- Strong onboarding, mentorship, and APP development support

- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Master’s program
- Connecticut PA or APRN license, or eligibility
- Certification or eligibility for certification as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
- 1+ years of cardiovascular surgery experience preferred
- 2+ years of PA/APRN critical care experience also considered
- First-assist experience preferred
- Endoscopic vein harvesting skills preferred
