• We are seeking an experienced Surgical Physician Assistant with robotics experience for a full-time locum tenens opportunity in Potsdam, NY.
• This role includes a combination of first assist in the operating room and medical-surgical floor coverage.
• Work in a collaborative hospital setting with anesthesia support and a multidisciplinary care team.
• Ideal for candidates open to relocation and seeking consistent, high-volume surgical exposure.
• Opportunity to take additional call shifts for increased earning potential.

Job Responsibilities
• Perform intraoperative tasks such as suturing, cauterization, hemostasis, and wound closure
• Position patients and maintain surgical field integrity
• Provide post-operative care including rounding, consults, and discharge management
• Manage orders, documentation, and patient care coordination on the surgical floor
• Assist with suction, drainage, and irrigation during procedures
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and clinical teams
• Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC EMR
Qualifications
• Active New York State License (Required)
• Board Certification (Required)
• AHA BLS, ACLS, and ATLS Certifications (Required)
• Minimum 2 years of recent surgical experience
• Robotics experience required (Mandatory)
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Clean and updated work history with no gaps over 30 days
Working Hours
• Tuesday – Friday: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Call Opportunities:
• Weekday Call: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM or 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
• Weeknight Call: ~4 shifts/month (5:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Weekend Call: Friday 5:00 PM – Monday 7:00 AM
• Weekend Rounding: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Skills
• Proficiency in perioperative and post-operative care
• Ability to manage acutely ill adult patients
• Excellent communication and teamwork
• Strong documentation and EMR proficiency (EPIC)
