• We are seeking an experienced Physician Assistant for a locums surgical role at an acute care hospital in Potsdam, NY.
• This position includes a combination of Surgical First Assist in the Operating Room and Medical-Surgical floor coverage.
• The provider will work with General Surgery, OB/GYN, and Orthopedic teams in a collaborative inpatient setting.
• This is a summer coverage role with strong potential for extension through the end of the year.

Job Responsibilities
• Provide First Assist support in the operating room.
• Perform patient rounding, progress notes, consults, and discharge planning.
• Manage orders and coordinate care for medical-surgical patients.
• Support intraoperative tasks such as suction, drainage, irrigation, and hemostasis.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and clinical staff for optimal patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC EMR system.
Qualifications
• Active New York State License required.
• Minimum 2 years of recent surgical or inpatient experience required.
• AHA BLS, ACLS, and ATLS certifications required.
• Strong procedural and clinical skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Working Hours
• 6/9 – 6/11 (3x12s)
• 6/22 – 6/24 (3x12s)
• 7/1 – 7/3 (3x12s)
• 8/6 – 8/8 (3x12s)
• 8/21 – 8/28 (flexible: 5x8s, 4x10s, or 3x12s)
• Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM or 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Weekday Call: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM or 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
• Weekend Call: Friday 5:00 PM – Monday 7:00 AM
• Optional call: 1–2 weekends/month + ~4 weeknight calls/month
• Special Note: OR closed on 7/3 – provider will cover emergency call (7a–5p) and assist with rounding
