Job description
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to join a high-performing cardiothoracic surgery team in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This permanent, full-time opportunity is ideal for an advanced practice provider with strong cardiac surgery and ICU management experience who is passionate about delivering patient-centered, high-quality cardiovascular care. The role offers a dynamic blend of operating room support, ICU and inpatient rounding, and outpatient clinic responsibilities within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
Job Responsibilities
• First assist in complex cardiac surgical procedures
• Perform endoscopic vein harvesting as required
• Manage CVICU, inpatient floor, and postoperative cardiac patients
• Conduct daily rounds, evaluations, and follow-up care
• Participate in scheduled outpatient clinic days
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, labs, and imaging
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
• Prescribe medications in accordance with regulatory guidelines
• Perform bedside procedures appropriate to the patient population
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, intensivists, physicians, and nursing staff
Qualifications
• Current PA-C certification
• Active or eligible state licensure
• Minimum of 3 years of cardiothoracic or cardiovascular surgery experience
• Strong ICU patient management background
• DEA license with full prescriptive authority
• BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross)
• Eligibility for Medicare and Medicaid provider enrollment
• No current or prior sanctions or exclusions
Working Hours
• Monday through Friday coverage
• Rotating on-call and weekend responsibilities
