We are seeking an experienced Trauma Surgery Physician Assistant to join a high-performing Trauma and Acute Care Surgery team as a full-time Nocturnist. This permanent night-shift role offers the opportunity to practice at the top of your license in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment while working closely with trauma surgeons and multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional patient care.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive trauma and acute care surgery services during overnight shifts
• Manage trauma admissions, emergency general surgery cases, and inpatient surgical care
• Perform patient evaluations, develop treatment plans, and interpret diagnostic results
• Assist trauma surgeons with procedures, resuscitations, and operative support
• Respond to urgent surgical and trauma-related clinical situations
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and ancillary services
• Document all patient care and clinical activity using EPIC EMR
• Practice with a high level of autonomy while managing multiple complex cases
• Support quality, safety, and performance initiatives within the Trauma Surgery service

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program (Master’s degree required)
• NCCPA certification (required)
• Unrestricted Colorado Physician Assistant license
• Eligible for DEA registration and Medicare/Medicaid provider status
• Current BLS certification
• Minimum of 2 years of trauma surgery experience or completion of a surgical fellowship
• Clean malpractice and licensure history

Working Hours

• Night shifts: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 12-hour overnight shifts
• 3 shifts per week
• Permanent nocturnist position

Skills

• Advanced trauma and acute care surgical knowledge
• Strong clinical judgment in high-acuity situations
• Ability to work independently during overnight hours
• Excellent procedural and patient assessment skills
• Effective communication and teamwork
• Proficiency with electronic medical records (EPIC preferred)
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
