Facility in Minneapolis, MN seeking trauma surgery APP coverage
Rates: $160/hr
Opportunity Highlights
-
Dates of Coverage: May through July (up to full-time availability).
-
Schedule: In-house shifts only; no call requirements.
-
Setting: Level I Adult Trauma Center (also providing pediatric care).
-
Compensation Note: Local candidates are highly preferred. Only mileage is reimbursed for travel.

Autonomy: APPs work autonomously but are supported by 24-hour on-site Trauma Surgeons.
-
EMR: Epic.
Clinical Responsibilities
The provider will manage trauma patients across the full continuum of care, serving as the primary attending for all patient conditions without the use of a separate hospitalist service.

Rounding: Average of 10–14 admitted non-ICU patients per day, or 6 ICU patients.

ED/Admissions: Manage 2–15 admissions or ED consults per 24-hour period.

Trauma Alerts: Respond to the ED for high-level trauma activations.

Discharges: Facilitate comprehensive discharge planning and patient education.
-
Clinical Management: Daily management of complex physiological conditions related to trauma and critical care.
Procedures
While a Trauma Surgeon is available for backup, the following procedures are preferred:

Non-invasive ventilation management (BiPAP/CPAP)
-
Full mechanical ventilation management
-
Chest tube insertion
-
Central line and arterial line placement
-
Suturing of minor lacerations
Provider Requirements
-
Certification: Board Certification (ACNP, AGNP, or PA-C) is required.
-
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of practice as an APP in an inpatient setting, optimally with experience in trauma, ICU, and/or orthopedics.

Licensure: Active Minnesota (MN) state license is required at the time of submission.
-
Certifications: ATLS, PALS, and ACLS are all required.
-
DEA: Verbal confirmation of active DEA is required at the time of submission.
-
Background: A Self-Query NPDB report must be provided with the presentation and must be pulled within the same month as the submission.
