Position Title: Physician Assistant (PA) – Surgery – Trauma (Night Shift)
Location: UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies, Loveland, CO
Employment Type: Full-Time, Night Shift (Nocturnist)

Position Overview:
UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Colorado, is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to join our Trauma and Acute Care Surgery team as a full-time nocturnist. In this critical role, you will provide expert overnight surgical and trauma care within one of Colorado’s leading high-acuity medical centers. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment committed to delivering exceptional patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver comprehensive trauma and acute care surgical services during overnight shifts, managing trauma admissions, emergency general surgeries, and inpatient care.
  • Conduct thorough patient evaluations, develop and implement individualized care plans, and interpret diagnostic tests to inform clinical decisions.
  • Assist trauma surgeons with procedures, resuscitations, and operative support, ensuring optimal patient management.
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team including surgeons, nurses, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
  • Document all clinical encounters accurately and efficiently within the Epic EMR system, maintaining compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
  • Practice autonomously, exercising sound clinical judgment across complex cases, while managing multiple priorities.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, safety protocols, and performance metrics within the Trauma Surgery service.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and leadership opportunities through UCHealth’s Office of Academic Programs (OAP).

Qualifications:
  • Current and unrestricted NCCPA certification (Certified Physician Assistant).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Minimum of two years’ trauma surgery experience or completion of a surgical fellowship highly preferred.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with prior night shift experience and strong acute care skills.
  • Must possess a valid Colorado Physician Assistant license.
  • Candidates must have a demonstrated ability to work independently, handle complex clinical scenarios, and perform procedures as required.
  • Note: This role does not accept new graduates and does not support visa sponsorship (no J-1 or H-1B).

  • Competitive annual salary ranging from $136,822 to $179,379, commensurate with experience.
