Job description
We are seeking an experienced Cardiovascular Surgery Physician Assistant (PA-C) for a 26-week locum tenens assignment in Erie, PA.
The provider will support both Cardiothoracic Surgery and Vascular Surgery services and work alongside an established surgical team.
Schedule & Call
- Monday–Friday: 7:00 AM–4:30 PM
- 40 hours per week
- 1 in 4 weekend call rotation
- Weekend call: Friday at 5:00 PM through Monday at 7:00 AM
- Weekend responsibilities primarily consist of rounding
- Rounding typically occurs from 8:00 AM–2:00 PM
- No elective cases are scheduled during weekend call
- Part-time availability may be considered with a minimum commitment of 2 weeks per month
Patient Volume
Approximately 20 patients per shift, depending on volume.
Requirements
- Board Certified Physician Assistant
- Active Pennsylvania PA license
- DEA
- BLS and ACLS
- 5–6 years of Cardiothoracic Surgery experience
- Demonstrated proficiency in vein harvesting techniques
- Demonstrated proficiency in surgical closure
- Ability to participate in rotating night and weekend coverage
Support
The provider will work with an established team that includes:
- Cardiothoracic Surgery: 2 physicians and 3 APPs
- Vascular Surgery: 2 physicians and 3 APPs
Job Responsibilities
Perform and assist with Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH)
Surgical closure
Vascular surgery cases
Inpatient rounding
Provide night and weekend coverage as part of a rotating call schedule
Support the existing APP team to ensure continuous patient coverage
