We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a full-time Cardiac Surgery locum opportunity in Conneticut. This assignment offers a mix of operating room first assist and inpatient cardiac surgery responsibilities with the potential to transition into a permanent position.

Assignment Details

  • Start: September 2026
  • Assignment through December 2026
  • Temp-to-hire opportunity

Schedule

  • Three 13-hour shifts per week
  • Day Shift: 7:00 AM–8:00 PM
  • Night Shift: 7:00 PM–8:00 AM
  • Rotating weekends (typically every 3–6 weeks)
  • No call

Practice Setting

  • Hospital-based Cardiac Surgery
  • Operating Room and Inpatient
  • Epic EMR

Clinical Responsibilities

  • First assist in cardiac surgery procedures
  • Provide inpatient cardiac surgery care
  • Insert and manage chest tubes
  • Collaborate with cardiac surgeons and multidisciplinary care teams
  • Participate in perioperative patient management

Team Structure

  • Work alongside a team of seven experienced APPs
  • Collaborative cardiac surgery practice

Requirements

  • Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • Cardiac Surgery inpatient experience preferred
  • First assist cardiac surgery experience preferred
  • Candidates without first assist experience will be considered if they have strong inpatient cardiac surgery experience
  • Chest tube insertion and management experience required
  • Epic experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Floating may be required
  • Prior travel experience preferred
  • Weekly billing cycle
