Position Overview

This role involves both clinical and surgical responsibilities, requiring strong teamwork, adaptability, and patient-centered care.

Provides healthcare services to patients under the direction and supervision of a physician, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and surgical assistance.
Key Responsibilities
- Surgical & Operating Room Support:
- Prepare operating room with charts, X-rays, and surgical templates
- Review imaging and ensure availability of instruments, supplies, and implants
- Position patients and assist with surgical preparation (tourniquet, draping, etc.)
- Assist during procedures (retraction, limb manipulation, suction, cauterization)
- Perform wound closure and apply dressings, splints, and immobilization devices
Clinical Duties:
- Conduct comprehensive and focused patient histories and physical exams
- Interpret diagnostic tests and assist in treatment planning
- Order and perform diagnostic and laboratory procedures
- Conduct hospital rounds, write orders, and assist with on-call duties
- Evaluate emergency room patients and manage inpatient care
- Dictate discharge summaries and clinical documentation
- Perform minor procedures (e.g., wound care, joint injections)
- Prescribe medications and orthopaedic devices in accordance with state regulations
- Provide sports team coverage as needed
- Administrative & Research:
- Participate in research, data management, and quality assurance initiatives
- Coordinate with back-office staff for surgical and clinical support
- Assist across departments as needed
Qualifications
- Active Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Nurse Practitioner license (state-specific)
- Orthopaedic experience in solo or group practice (Preferred)
