Job description

Job description This position provides psychiatric assessments, medication monitoring, and continuity of care for children, youth, and families in an outpatient setting. The provider delivers comprehensive mental health services using a client-directed, outcome-informed approach. Responsibilities include screening, diagnosis, treatment planning, and collaboration with medical and behavioral health teams to ensure integrated care for clients aged 12–20.

Job Responsibilities

Patient Care Management & Documentation:
• Conduct psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management.
• Collaborate with supervising physicians and mental health providers to deliver comprehensive care.
• Develop differential diagnoses and treatment plans based on evaluations.
• Order diagnostics and implement therapy within scope of practice.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with agency and regulatory standards.
• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications.
• Apply trauma-informed care principles and address issues such as domestic violence, addiction, and developmental concerns.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings to coordinate care.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, CLIA, Title 22, and AAAHC standards.
• Serve on committees to support community mental health systems.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and data analysis.

Consultation & Referral:
• Seek consultation from supervising physicians when cases exceed scope of practice.
• Follow protocols for prescribing controlled substances.
• Participate in peer review and collaborative care processes.
• Attend medical staff meetings.
• Provide patient education and involve families in care planning.
• Identify and address system-level issues through performance improvement efforts.
• Maintain current licensure, certifications, and CME documentation.
• Communicate effectively with patients and staff, ensuring confidentiality and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current California Physician Assistant license in good standing.
• NCCPA board certification
• Current CPR, ACLS, and DEA registration.
• Minimum 3 years of outpatient experience in children’s mental health or community-based practice.
• Preferred: 7+ years in integrated healthcare systems with a focus on pediatric populations.
• Must pass pre-employment drug and background screening.
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
• Post-offer: CPR/BLS certification, TB test, and annual flu shot required (unless exempt). Hepatitis B vaccine offered but not required.

Working Hours

Full-time; may include participation in team meetings and community outreach.
