C.S. Mott Children's Hospital at University of Michigan Health is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Professional to join our Pediatric Cardiac Surgery team. This NP or PA will help manage infants and children with congenital and acquired heart disease across the perioperative continuum, working closely with cardiac surgeons, intensivists, cardiologists, nurses, and multidisciplinary consultants in a nationally respected academic children's hospital environment.
Job Responsibilities
Perform detailed history and physical examinations
Order and interpret diagnostic tests, radiographs, and clinical studies.
Order/prescribe and titrate medications.
Perform various diagnostic, therapeutic, and minor surgical procedures.
Maintain continuity of care
Collaborate with providers/consultants to coordinate clinical care.
Document patient status, evaluation, and treatment plan
Facilitate patient transfer across levels of care, including writing discharge orders and communicating specific patient needs to team members.
Provide education for patients, families, staff.
Participation in quality assurance activities.
Note: This is a 40-hour night position with rotation to days as needed. Includes weekends and holidays.
Qualifications
Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan.
State of Michigan Controlled Substance License Required
Current DEA registration required
AHA approved PALS certification or the ability to obtain prior to employment
Two years of recent clinical practice experience in pediatric care or intensive care in a subspecialty
NOTE:
*Employment is contingent upon successful completion of the credentialing and privileging process.

Working Hours
This is a full-time night-based APP role with rotation to days as needed, supporting continuity and expert management of pediatric cardiac surgery patients during high-acuity evening and overnight hours. Weekend and holiday coverage are included as part of the team-based schedule.
