Job description General Purpose:

Driscoll Children’s Hospital is seeking CICU Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our dynamic Heart Center Team, located in a stunning coastal climate in Corpus Christi, Texas. This role provides advanced practice care to children with congenital heart disease. This is more than a job – it is an opportunity to provide exceptional, family centered care in a fast-paced environment where your expertise directly impacts patient experience and outcomes.

Essential Functions:
  • Complete comprehensive history and physical exams
  • Manage individualized treatment plans.
  • Order, perform and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Complete Consults with follow up as indicated.
  • Prescribe medications, therapies as indicated within scope of practice
  • Manage hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical ventilation, and ECMO as needed in collaboration with supervising physicians.
  • Perform advanced procedures as credentialed
  • Participate in daily rounds and communicate care plan with families
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members
  • Participate in Heart Center improvement initiatives

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT (PA-C)

  • Master’s or Post Master’s Degree, Required.
  • Completion of an Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) approved program (prior to January 2001 - Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs), required.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of pediatric acute care experience, required.
  • BLS, PALS and ACLS required.
  • Knowledge of EMR systems, preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish), preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSURE, REGISTRATION: PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT (PA-C)

  • Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA),
  • Physician Assistant, Certified (PA-C), required.
  • Active and unencumbered license in the State of Texas, required
  • Advanced specialty courses and ongoing education requirements as required by DCH.
  • DCH Credentialing obtained within time frame required and continuously maintained ongoing.
  • Must obtain DCH credentialing as an active member of medical staff and appropriate medical privileges, required.
