Med Ninjas is seeking a Physician Assistant for long-term locum coverage at an inpatient facility located in Rochester, NY
This assignment includes inpatient pediatric cardiac ICU coverage, critical care management, congenital heart disease care, and rotating day/night shifts with on-call, callback, holiday, and weekend requirements based on unit needs.

Locum Physician Assistant - Pediatric Cardiac ICU Rochester, NY
Shift: 39 hours per week; rotating 13-hour day shifts (6:00 AM–7:00 PM) and night shifts (6:00 PM–7:00 AM). Approximately 50% days and 50% nights.
Day and night shifts are generally not scheduled in the same week.
Position Details: 6–9-month assignment in a 16-bed acuity-adaptable Pediatric Cardiac Care Center
Patient Population: Critically ill pediatric patients with congenital heart disease; occasional adults with congenital heart disease and PICU boarder patients
Setting: Inpatient Pediatric Cardiac ICU
Responsibilities: Serve as a primary covering provider, manage complex congenital cardiac conditions, care for pre- and post-operative pediatric cardiac surgical patients, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary critical care team
Required Procedures: ICU procedural knowledge is essential; the role is primarily focused on patient management rather than procedures
Support Staff: Physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other multidisciplinary team members
Days Per Month: Approximately 39 hours per week on rotating day/night shifts
On-Call/Weekends: On-call and callback required; holidays and weekends as needed based on unit requirements

Required Procedures and Skills

• Management of complex congenital heart disease and cardiac anatomy and physiology

• Care of pre- and post-operative pediatric cardiac surgical patients

• Management of high-risk single ventricle physiology and open chest patients

• Arrhythmia management, vasopressor support, and external/internal pacemakers

• Experience with VA/VV ECMO and CRRT patient management

• ICU procedural knowledge and multidisciplinary critical care collaboration

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience

• Completion of an ARC-PA-approved Physician Assistant program

• Active New York State Physician Assistant license in good standing and current NCCPA certification

• Current BLS from AHA and PALS certification as specified in the source requirements

Preferred Qualification:

• Pediatric Acute Care Physician Assistant certification
