Med Ninjas is seeking a Physician Assistant for Long term locum tenens coverage at an inpatient and outpatient facility located in Mammoth Lakes, CA.
This assignment includes inpatient and outpatient orthopedic care, surgical first-assist responsibilities, operating room coverage, on-call coverage including nights and weekends, and holiday/high-volume event coverage.

Locum Tenens Orthopedics Physician Assistant Mammoth Lakes, California

Shift: Full-time, with on-call coverage including nights and weekends
Start Date: ASAP
End Date: Ongoing
Position Details: Orthopedic PA providing medical and surgical care in inpatient and outpatient settings; first or second assistant in the operating room; rotating OR first-assist on-call coverage
Patient Population: Orthopedic department patients
Setting: Inpatient and Outpatient
Responsibilities:

• Provide routine medical management of inpatient care
• Order diagnostic tests, labs, x-rays, medications within the scope of the PA license, and nutrition
• Manage adjunctive care
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and communicate treatment plans with orthopedic physicians, nursing staff, and families
• Manage patient discharge, disposition, follow-up planning, adjunctive therapy management, and education
• Assess emergency conditions and, in conjunction with the attending physician, implement management
• Perform bedside History and Physical when needed
• Initiate appropriate emergency care in inpatient and outpatient settings
• Function as first or second assistant in the operating room
• Perform surgical exposure, surgical dissections, layer closure of wounds, and application of dressings and immobilization devices
• Provide first-assist OR on-call coverage
• Participate in rotating holiday and high-volume event coverage

Required Procedures: Surgical first assist, surgical exposure, surgical dissections, layer closure of wounds, application of dressings and immobilization devices, bedside History and Physical, emergency care
EMR System: Cerner
Support Staff: Orthopedic physicians, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary care team
On-Call/Weekends: On-call coverage including nights and weekends; holiday coverage required; no 24-hour call

Requirements

• State of California Physician Assistant License required
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification required
• DEA license required
• Three years of experience in inpatient, outpatient, and surgery care required
• Must be available for full-time on-call coverage including nights and weekends
• Must participate in holiday and high-volume event coverage as scheduled
