Job description
An established, physician-owned private orthopedic surgery practice serving the Greater South Houston community is seeking an experienced Orthopedic Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join its growing clinical team.
This position offers a combination of orthopedic surgical first-assisting, outpatient orthopedic care, perioperative management, and postoperative follow-up. The PA will work closely with orthopedic surgeons across clinical and surgical settings.
Job Responsibilities
Serve as surgical first assist during orthopedic procedures
Provide intraoperative support including positioning, retraction, suturing, and wound closure
Evaluate and manage patients with orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions
Treat fractures, sports injuries, subacute and chronic orthopedic conditions
Perform preoperative histories and physical examinations
Participate in perioperative management and postoperative rounds as required
Monitor postoperative recovery and identify potential complications
Provide follow-up care and patient education
Explain diagnoses, treatment options, surgical expectations, and rehabilitation plans
Maintain accurate EHR documentation
Complete appropriate CPT/ICD-10 coding and clinical documentation
Collaborate closely with surgeons, nurses, surgical staff, and other healthcare professionals
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies or equivalent
Current NCCPA certification (PA-C)
Active Texas PA license or eligibility for Texas licensure
Texas prescriptive authority
Active DEA registration
Current BLS and ACLS
Minimum 1–2 years of direct orthopedic surgery experience
Strong orthopedic surgical first-assisting experience
Experience with outpatient orthopedic evaluation and treatment
Ability to work effectively in both clinical and surgical environments
