Position Overview
seeking a dedicated and experienced Orthopedic Surgery Physician Assistant to assist with a temporary surge in patient volume at our San Leandro Medical Center. This full-time contract role provides inpatient rounding and outpatient clinic coverage for orthopedic patients, including those undergoing total joint procedures.
Job Responsibilities
• Inpatient Care: Conduct inpatient rounding and provide comprehensive care management for postoperative orthopedic patients.
• Clinic Coverage: Evaluate and manage orthopedic patients within an outpatient clinic setting.
• Patient Management: Handle medication management, coordinate patient discharges, provide clear recovery updates, and address questions from patients and families regarding their procedures.
• Schedule Efficiency: Manage an estimated daily patient volume of 14–18 patients during inpatient rounding, and 19–21 patients during outpatient clinic shifts.
Qualifications
• Licensure: Active and unrestricted California State Physician Assistant license.
• Certifications: Board Certified (NCCPA), BLS, and ACLS (American Heart Association).
• EMR Proficiency: Experience with EPIC / Health Connect is highly preferred.
• Vaccination Status: Preferred (Waivers will be considered on a case-by-case basis).
Working Hours
Hours: Monday through Friday.
• Rounding or Combined Rounding/Clinic days: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
• Clinic-only days: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Holiday Requirement: Candidate must work the week of Thanksgiving.
