12- or 24-Hour Shifts | No Outpatient Clinic | $7,500+ Sign-On | PSLF Eligible
A growing Women's Health program in coastal South Carolina is seeking a Bilingual Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) Laborist to provide dedicated inpatient Labor & Delivery coverage. This position is 100% hospital-based with no outpatient clinic responsibilities, allowing the CNM to focus exclusively on labor, delivery, and maternal care. The incoming provider will join a collaborative OB/GYN team serving a diverse patient population, including a significant Spanish-speaking community.
Position Highlights
Full-time, permanent CNM Laborist opportunity
100% inpatient Labor & Delivery
No outpatient clinic responsibilities
Rotating 12- or 24-hour shifts
Night, weekend, and holiday coverage included
24/7 coverage shared between CNMs and OB/GYN physicians
Approximately 2,000 deliveries annually
Typical volume of 8–12 deliveries per day
Diverse adolescent and adult patient population
Significant opportunity to care for Spanish-speaking patients
Collaborative physician/CNM practice model
Cerner EMR with Dragon dictation
Labor & Delivery Team
8 OB/GYN physicians
2 Certified Nurse Midwives
1 Women's Health Nurse Practitioner
Dedicated Labor & Delivery nurses
In-house Anesthesia support
Pediatric support
Surgical teams available for C-sections
Multidisciplinary approach to maternal and newborn care
Clinical Responsibilities
Manage labor and delivery for appropriate obstetric patients
Provide comprehensive intrapartum care
Manage routine vaginal deliveries
Assess patients presenting to Labor & Delivery
Monitor maternal and fetal status throughout labor
Identify complications and collaborate with OB/GYN physicians when higher-level intervention is required
Assist with Cesarean sections as appropriate
Provide immediate postpartum care
Communicate directly with Spanish-speaking patients and families
Provide culturally responsive education and support throughout the delivery process
Labor & Delivery Resources
Management of higher-risk pregnancies down to approximately 32 weeks gestation
Level II nursery on site
Labor & Delivery, postpartum, nursery, and C-section operating rooms located on the same floor
L&D directly across from postpartum care
Established transfer protocols for patients requiring advanced neonatal services
Access to Level III and Level IV NICU resources through regional referral relationships
Integrated surgical, anesthesia, pediatric, and nursing support

Qualifications
Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM)
Bilingual in English and Spanish required
Board Certified as a Certified Nurse Midwife
Current or eligible South Carolina CNM/APRN licensure
Labor & Delivery experience required
Experience managing routine deliveries
Experience assisting with Cesarean sections
BLS certification required
ACLS certification required
NRP certification required
Strong communication and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
Commitment to culturally competent, patient-centered maternal care
