Neonatal Nurse Practitioner opening in North Carolina

-Level III NICU
Primarily Night Shift
A large regional health system in southeastern North Carolina is seeking a Certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) to join a collaborative and experienced NICU team. This opportunity offers a strong staffing model, structured orientation based on experience, competitive compensation with night differential and additional shift incentives, and the resources of a 1,000+ bed health system.
Position Highlights
* Join an established Level III NICU
* Dedicated 44-bed neonatal unit
* 21 intensive care beds
* 23 intermediate care beds
* Care for newborns ranging from 23 weeks gestation through post-term
* Approximately 4,000 deliveries annually
* Large regional referral base for high-risk pregnancies
* 24-hour coverage for high-risk deliveries
* Dedicated neonatal ground transport team serving seven surrounding counties
* Current team includes 5 Board-Certified Neonatologists and 11 Certified NNPs
* Additional support from neonatal nurses, respiratory therapists, and other specialized staff
* Position primarily provides night shift coverage, with occasional day shifts based on staffing needs
* Structured orientation and intensive training program lasting approximately 3–12 months, depending on experience
* 144 total shifts annually, including clinical coverage, education days, and administrative time as scheduling permits
Staffing & Schedule
* Collaborative physician and NNP staffing model
* Each shift supported by:
* 2 Neonatologists – attending and backup physician
* 2 Neonatal Nurse Practitioners
* Day shift: 7:30 AM–8:30 PM
* Night shift: 8:00 PM–8:30 AM
* Flexible scheduling model
* Primarily night shifts with occasional daytime coverage

Qualifications
* Graduate of an accredited Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program
* Current NNP-BC certification
* Current or eligible North Carolina licensure
* Strong clinical assessment and critical-care skills
* Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary NICU team
* Commitment to providing high-quality care to premature, critically ill, and medically complex newborns
