Job Description:
Amergis is seeking an experienced Hospitalist Physician Assistant to provide high-quality inpatient medical care within a collaborative acute-care hospital environment. This role focuses on managing adult hospitalized patients through comprehensive assessments, daily rounding, treatment planning, diagnostic interpretation, discharge coordination, and multidisciplinary care collaboration, all while maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence and professionalism. The ideal provider is passionate about delivering compassionate, evidence-based care to diverse patient populations, including individuals facing socioeconomic, medical, and other vulnerabilities that may impact their healthcare outcomes. Success in this role requires strong clinical judgment, exceptional communication skills, and a commitment to advocating for patients while supporting safe, equitable, and dignified care throughout the hospitalization process. This position offers a balanced 7-on/7-off schedule with no call responsibilities and no invasive bedside procedures.
Job Responsibilities
• Conduct comprehensive inpatient assessments and obtain patient histories.
• Perform daily rounds and manage ongoing care for hospitalized adult patients.
• Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
• Order, review, and interpret laboratory studies and diagnostic testing.
• Document patient encounters, assessments, and treatment plans accurately.
• Coordinate patient discharges and ensure continuity of care.
• Collaborate with nursing staff, specialists, and case management teams.
• Provide evidence-based medical care while monitoring patient progress and outcomes.
Qualifications
• Active Illinois Physician Assistant license and DEA registration.
• Minimum of 2 years of Hospitalist and/or Critical Care Physician Assistant experience.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program; NCCPA certification preferred.
• Strong inpatient medicine skills with experience managing adult acute-care populations.
