Hybrid HOSP/EM coverage needed in Iowa!

This is Don Awbrey with Ascend Medical Staffing. We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider serving in a Hybrid Hospitalist/EM role to cover a facility in Iowa later this month!

Locum Hospitalist Opportunity

Critical Access Hospital | Iowa

Dates: January 24–31, 2026

Schedule: 24-hour shifts (12:00 PM – 12:00 PM)
Call: 24/7 call coverage while on shift

Credentialing: Approximately 60 days

Setting: 25-bed Critical Access Hospital

Facility & Volume

• Average Daily Census: 4–6 medical patients
• ED Volume: 2,500–2,700 annually (6–8 encounters/day)
• Beds:
  • Acute: 10
  • Swing: 7
  • ICU: None

Clinical Scope

• Common Diagnoses: CHF, COPD, Cellulitis, GI
• Subspecialty Support: Cardiology, Pulmonology, Infectious Disease (telemedicine)
• Ancillary Services: On-site lab and imaging
• EMR: Thrive Software with TruBridge

Workflow & Rounding

• Morning rounds begin between 7:00–8:00 AM
• Interdisciplinary rounds at 8:00 AM
• Weekly swing-bed rounding for transitions of care
• Overnight admissions (11:00 PM–6:00 AM) via transition orders
• High-acuity admissions require immediate bedside evaluation

Orientation & Travel

• Orientation: Weekday only, ~4 hours
• Rate – flat fee of $2400 for each 24 hour period.
• Travel: Hotel covered for first night; rental car or mileage provided

Provider Requirements

• Minimum 2 years autonomous hospitalist experience
• Must be comfortable with:
  • Vent management
  • Emergent intubations (logs required)
  • Central lines
  • Inpatient and ED procedures
• Clean malpractice history required
