Job Description

Last Update: 4/19/24

To prospective teammates,

I’m the medical director for Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital, located in Dover, Ohio. I have been a part of Sound Physicians for one year. I’m proud of the hospitalist practice we have built and welcome interest from advanced practice providers (APPs) coming out of training or desiring a career change. I’d like to share more about it, specifically about our people, practice, and purpose, as you consider options:

People
  • We are a closely knit, established team of six physicians and two advanced practice providers, with the support of a clinical performance nurse. We staff two physicians and one APP per day shift (7 am – 7 pm) and one physician on nights (7 pm – 7 am).
  • Our group comes from worldwide, including the USA, Pakistan, India, and South America.
  • We are directly involved in many committees, including sepsis, code blue, stroke, etc. We work closely with nurses for our specialized Plan Of Care visits. We have daily multidisciplinary rounds with case managers, nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists, and pharmacy.
  • Our group likes to go out together for dinner and have gatherings with our families once a month.
Practice
  • We welcome the challenge of complex cases, working in an open 10-bed low-acuity ICU with additional intensivist coverage during the day. Our team is expected to be able to perform procedures such as central lines, arterial lines, and intubation, respond to rapid responses, and run CODE BLUEs. Our APPs work independently and manage their own patient census.
  • During our rounding week, we meet daily to review updates or bring up concerns. We have monthly wellness lunches.
  • Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital is a very welcoming, close-knit hospital. We have a seven on/off schedule, but we help cover for our teammates as needed.
  • Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, and AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability, 401k with match, paid medical malpractice and tail coverage, and annual CME allowance.
Purpose
  • We put patients first. Always.
  • A focus on growth and development is a key feature of Sound’s practices, where teammates can expand their careers here locally and within the broader medical group.
  • We’re a community-minded team and encourage our team members who want to contribute in and out of the hospital to help make our local community thrive.

More about our community: People enjoy living in Dover, Ohio, for its close-knit community atmosphere, affordable cost of living, and scenic surroundings. Residents appreciate the city’s rich history, recreational opportunities, and family-friendly environment, making it a welcoming place to call home.
