Job description

Job description Gastroenterology Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner | Appleton, WI | $150K to $200K + $5K Relocation

A multidisciplinary medical center in Northeast Wisconsin is looking for a PA-C or NP with gastroenterology experience to provide care for a focused census of digestive health patients. Responsibilities will include working up and treating chronic and acute disease, identifying when a patient needs endoscopy or colonoscopy procedures, imaging or surgical consultation. On top of that, the center pays for your Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) training, adding microbiome health, therapeutic nutrition and the links between the gut and the rest of the body to how you treat patients.

Pay, Hours and Start

  • Pay: $150,000 to $200,000 a year, based on experience
  • Moving help: $5,000 in relocation assistance
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8-hour days. Clinic only responsibilities.
  • Anticipate 6 - 10 patients per day with 30 - 45 minute visit time slots.
  • Start: January to March 2027, depending on Wisconsin licensure and insurance credentialing
  • Education: IFM coursework paid by the employer, starting with the GI advanced practice module, on a timeline that fits course availability
  • Benefits: full benefits package

Day to Day

  • Evaluate and follow patients with GERD, eosinophilic esophagitis, chronic diarrhea, refractory constipation, celiac disease and other chronic digestive disorders
  • Order and interpret GI labs and studies, including inflammatory markers, celiac panels, liver and pancreatic testing
  • Recognize warning signs of IBD, diverticulitis or possible colorectal cancer and arrange endoscopy, colonoscopy, imaging or physician consultation
  • Manage GI medications over the long term, including chronic acid suppression
  • Take part in shared care discussions with physicians and other providers across specialties

Background We Need

  • Current PA-C or NP certification, eligible for a Wisconsin license
  • 3 years of clinical experience, with medical gastroenterology or digestive disorders experience strongly preferred
  • Comfort managing complex, chronic GI patients and identifying red flags
  • Interest in functional medicine, nutrition and microbiome health, grounded in evidence-based GI care

What Makes It Different

Most GI provider roles mean a full schedule of short follow-ups in a busy practice setting. This opportunity allows for longer patient visits, reduced daily censuses and opportunity to influence care models directly.
