A healthcare facility in New York City is actively seeking a compassionate and patient-oriented Physician Assistant (PA) to join their Primary Care team. In this role, the Primary Care Physician Assistant (PA) will be responsible for monitoring the health and medical status of patients.
Responsibilities
The Primary Care Physician Assistant (PA) will:
- Conduct admission and annual physicals for Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) patients
- Appropriately prescribe and monitor medication-assisted treatment (methadone/buprenorphine) therapy as well as antagonist therapy (naloxone/naltrexone) for new patients and for ongoing maintenance therapy
- Provide primary care services to patients
- Take a thorough patient history
- Exercise good physical diagnosis skills and use diagnostic testing wisely and appropriately
- Implement preventive health guidelines
- Make appropriate assessments and treatment plans for patient problems
- Counsel primary care patients on Advance Directives/Health Care Proxy Law and provide an opportunity to appoint a proxy
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of training
- Active New York State Physician Assistant license
- Current Certificate of Registration issued by the State of New York
- DEA registration and Buprenorphine waiver
- Ability to work with the chronically ill and public health problems and an understanding of the general life style and the emotional and behavioral patterns associated with persons with substance use disorder
