Physician Assistant: Family Medicine Locums

Salem OR

$75 Hourly Rate


Reason for Coverage:

There is a shortage of staff and a backlog of patients that need to be addressed.


EMR (Electronic Medical Record):

Health Connect, which is Kaiser Permanente's version of EPIC. The candidate should have recent experience with EPIC within the past 1-2 years.


Coverage Dates:

The coverage is required from ASAP to the end Dec 2024


Shift Schedule Details & Shift Duration:

The shift schedule is 8-hour days, Monday to Friday. However, the client would like the candidate to be flexible and work Saturdays occasionally, with a day off during the week.


Call Schedule/Responsibilities:

There is no on-call duty required for this position.


Type of Patients/Cases/Procedures:

The Physician Assistant will work in Family Medicine and will be responsible for the following tasks:

1. Seeing patients for physicals, women's health, and managing chronic conditions (e.g., hypertension, diabetes).

2. Addressing same-day/urgent medical issues such as injuries and illnesses.

3. Working in employee health to conduct health screenings for new employees, ensuring all pre-hire screening criteria are met.

4. Supporting KP Health Connect by managing 'in-basket' tasks, such as responding to messages and handling patient results.

5. Refilling medications for patients.

6. Conducting telephone/video visits with patients when necessary.


Patients per Day/Volume:

The estimated number of patients to be seen per day is 20.


Support Staff:

The Physician Assistant will have full support from the following staff members:

1. Registered Nurses (RNs)

2. Medical Assistants (MAs)

3. Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs)


Responsibility of Mid-Level Providers:

N/A (Not applicable)


Back-up Specialties to EM Department:

The Physician Assistant should be able to handle cases from all specialties in the Emergency Department when required.
