Job description • Seeking an experienced PA-C or APRN for a 13-week contract assignment in the Emergency Department.
• Open to a 3–6 month contract.
• Position requires prior Emergency Department experience and current ATLS certification.
• The provider will independently assess and manage patients within their approved scope of practice and clinical privileges.
• Opportunity to work alongside an established emergency medicine team in a hospital-based setting.
• The position involves a combination of emergency evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, patient education, and care coordination.
• EMR: Meditech.
• Bilingual skills are not required.

Job Responsibilities

• Obtain complete, detailed, and accurate patient histories.
• Review medical records and evaluate patient medical status.
• Perform comprehensive physical examinations and document findings accurately.
• Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic testing based on the patient's presentation and clinical needs.
• Evaluate patient data and establish appropriate diagnoses and treatment plans.
• Initiate medical therapy and make appropriate referrals when necessary.
• Assess and manage patients presenting to the Emergency Department during assigned shifts.
• Communicate and collaborate with the on-call Emergency Department physician as clinically necessary.
• Consult with the on-call physician in accordance with established emergency department protocols.
• Arrange hospital admissions and discharges when appropriate.
• Perform hospital rounds and document patient progress.
• Prepare case summaries, medical documentation, and other required patient records.
• Provide patients with appropriate education, discharge instructions, and follow-up recommendations.
• Perform or assist with routine laboratory, therapeutic, and selected surgical procedures within scope and privileges.
• Respond to Rapid Response and Code Team activations when available.
• Supervise cardiac stress testing as required.
• Maintain required clinical oversight documentation and signatures.
• Participate in organizational teams and quality/process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

PA-C: Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited university.
• Current certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) for PA-C candidates.
• Current DEA certification.
• Current BLS certification.
• Current ACLS certification.
• Current PALS certification for Emergency Department coverage.
• Current NRP certification for Emergency Department coverage, as applicable.
• Current ATLS certification is required for this assignment.
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience.
• Previous Emergency Department experience required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain applicable state licensure and clinical privileges.
• Must practice within the scope of practice and privileges established through the credentialing process.

Working Hours

• Night Shift: 6:00 PM–6:00 AM.
• Approximately 60 hours every 2 weeks.
• Every 3rd weekend coverage required.
• Variable holiday coverage required.
• Holiday coverage is part of the assignment.
• Contract duration: 13 weeks.
• Tentative start date: October 26, 2026.
• Potential opportunity for a 3–6 month contract based on ongoing staffing needs.

• Strong documentation and EMR skills.
• Ability to respond appropriately to Rapid Response and Code Team situations.
• Current ATLS, ACLS, BLS, and applicable emergency medicine certifications.
