Job Description

To prospective teammates,

I’m the medical director for ProMedica Charles and Virginia Hospital in Adrian, Michigan. I have been a part of Sound Physicians for ten months. I’m proud of the emergency medicine practice we have built and welcome interest from physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs) coming out of training or desiring a career change. I’d like to share more about it, specifically about our people, practice, and purpose, as you consider options:

People
  • We are a closely-knit, established team of eight physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs). All physicians are board-certified/eligible in emergency medicine.
  • All our providers live within one hour of the facility; some are residents of the hospital’s community.
  • The hospital respects our group of providers well and participates in multiple hospital committees and initiatives.
  • Our group of providers has a vast interest and variety of hobbies of which the “outdoor” sports and activities prevail, like hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping.
  • We proudly sponsor H1B and J1 visa candidates, and Sound has excellent in-house visa specialists and our licensing and credentialing experts. All required filing fees for the visa are paid, and services are covered by Sound.
Practice
  • Our Sound hospitalist providers cover hospital admissions. We respond to hospital codes when a hospitalist is unavailable during the night. We are pursuing a level 3 trauma designation and are stroke-certified. Our main supporting facility for transfers is ProMedica Toledo Hospital in Toledo, Ohio, with helicopter service.
  • We have regular department meetings every other month.
  • Most of us like to spend time with our families or outdoors, so a flexible schedule is available, and we cover for each other when we’re out. Most of us like to spend time with our families or outdoors, so a flexible schedule is available, and we cover for each other when we’re out.
  • Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, and AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability, 401k with match, paid medical malpractice and tail coverage, and annual CME allowance.
Purpose
  • We put patients first. Always.
  • Growth and development are key features of Sound’s practices, where teammates can expand their careers here locally and within the broader medical group.
  • We’re a community-minded team and encourage our team members who want to contribute in and out of the hospital to help make our local community thrive.

Adrian, Michigan, offers a charming blend of small-town warmth and diverse cultural amenities. Residents appreciate the city’s picturesque parks, historic architecture, and vibrant downtown, while the proximity to local colleges like Adrian College and Siena Heights University contributes to a lively community atmosphere.
