ATC Locums is seeking an experienced Trauma/Critical Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for an urgent locum assignment at a Level II Trauma Center. This is an excellent opportunity for an APP who enjoys managing trauma patients, working closely with a trauma surgeon, and practicing at the top of their clinical scope in a supportive environment.
The Opportunity
- Location: Redding, California
- Practice Setting: Level II Trauma Center / Trauma Service
- Schedule: 3:00 PM – 1:00 AM
- Patient Volume: Approximately 20–25 patients daily on the Trauma Service
- Physician Support: One trauma surgeon on call
- APP Support: One additional Trauma NP/PA covering the day shift, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM
- Pediatric Volume: Few to zero pediatric trauma patients
- EMR: Cerner Care B
- Role: Monitor, evaluate, manage, and discharge patients on the trauma service
Clinical Responsibilities
The APP will provide comprehensive trauma care, including patient evaluation, treatment planning, admissions and discharges, wound management, fracture and dislocation management, cervical spine clearance, chest tube management, arterial and central line procedures, incision and drainage, laceration repair, debridement, burn management, and other acute trauma procedures.
Important: Surgical assisting is not part of this assignment.
Coverage Dates
Urgent coverage is needed for multiple dates from September through December 2026, including Sept. 4–6, Sept. 11–13, Oct. 7, Oct. 20–21, Oct. 30–31, Nov. 1–4, Nov. 7–15, Nov. 23–24, Nov. 30, Dec. 1–2, Dec. 7–9, Dec. 14–16, Dec. 21–26, and Dec. 31.
Compensation & Requirements
- Competitive hourly compensation
- CA active license required; NPs must have CA furnishing number
- NCCPA or AACN certification
- BLS, ACLS, ATLS and DEA required
- Recent experience working in a TJC-accredited hospital required
