Locums – Boston, Massachusetts, Critical Care NP/PA Job

Schedule & Coverage:

• Shift options:

  • Day shift: 6:00 AM–7:00 PM

  • Night shift: 6:00 PM–7:00 AM

• Preferred coverage: 4 weekend shifts per month

• Minimum requirement: 2 weekend shifts per month

• Friday, Saturday, or Sunday shifts qualify as weekend coverage

• Friday night shifts count as weekend shifts

• Providers are not required to work three 13-hour shifts every weekend

• Local providers who can stay in town are preferred

Practice Details:

• Facility type: Teaching hospital

• Practice setting: ICU

• 10-bed unit

• Average daily census: 7 patients

• Patient population: Adults

• EMR: Epic

• APPs serve as responding clinicians only; no procedures required

Clinical Responsibilities & Scope of Practice:

• Provide critical care and medical-surgical coverage

• Manage routine ICU and medical-surgical cases

• Care for 1–2 burn patients as needed

• Respond to patient care needs within the assigned unit

• No procedural responsibilities

Procedures & Cases Not Required:

• Intubations

• Line placement

• Ventilator management

• Transplants

• Echocardiograms

• Head trauma cases

• External ventricular drains (EVDs)

• Complex neurological stroke cases

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Board Certified Acute Care NP or PA with ICU experience

• Active Massachusetts license

• Active DEA

• Minimum 2+ years of critical care experience

Required Certifications:

• ACLS

• BLS
