Clinical Role:

  • Job Type: Permanent position

  • Position: Critical Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)

  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts

  • Start Date: As soon as possible

  • Team Structure: Work alongside physicians and seven other APPs

  • Typical Volume: 8–10 patients (with physician supervision)

  • Experience Required:

  • 2 years of ICU experience preferred

  • Proficiency in procedures such as intubation, central line, and arterial line placement preferred

  • Training available for certain procedures

EMR: EPIC

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Advanced Practice Provider (APP) passionate about delivering exceptional critical care to join our multi-specialty ICU team at a leading hospital in Athens, Georgia.

In this vital role, you’ll collaborate with intensivists, specialists, residents, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide evidence-based care to critically ill patients. Our ICU offers exposure to diverse, complex medical and surgical conditions, supporting continuous learning and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized treatment plans

Manage life-sustaining therapies (e.g., mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic support, CRRT)

Perform and interpret diagnostic tests, including EKGs and ABGs

Order and interpret lab results and adjust medications as needed

Collaborate with the care team for seamless transitions and discharge planning

Educate patients and families regarding conditions and treatment plans

Participate in daily rounds and case discussions

Maintain accurate electronic health records

Engage in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education

Qualifications:

Current, unrestricted Georgia APRN (Acute Care NP) or PA license

Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited program

ICU experience preferred but not required

Current BLS and ACLS certification

Strong critical thinking, clinical judgment, and procedural skills

Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
