APP – OB/GYN Hospitalist Location: Hartford, CT Graduate of an accredited Advanced Practitioner Program • Excellent opportunity to join a high-volume, high-acuity inpatient obstetric team in Hartford, Connecticut • Labor & Delivery unit serves as a high-risk referral center • Approximately 4,000 deliveries annually • Obstetric Triage unit evaluates 3,000+ patients per year • Expanding inpatient obstetric service with 24/7 APP coverage • Reports directly to the OB/GYN Hospitalist Director • Requires strong clinical reasoning and excellent communication skills • Functions independently and collaboratively with nurses, residents, and attending physicians Schedule & Shift Details: • Rotational schedule (day and night rotation) • 3 shifts per week • 13.3-hour shifts • Night and weekend shift differentials apply Clinical Responsibilities: • Care for patients admitted or being triaged across the Obstetric service line • Assist in Labor & Delivery with admissions, magnesium sulfate checks, and labor checks when residents are unavailable or during high-volume periods • Round on and evaluate antepartum patients based on volume and resident coverage • Assess concerns including labor, elevated blood pressure, infection, and medication management • Perform and assist with biophysical profiles (BPPs) for non-reactive NSTs • Conduct limited obstetric ultrasounds • Provide postpartum care including rounding, discharge planning, coordination of inpatient consults, and medication reconciliation • Respond to postpartum or postoperative concerns and elevated blood pressures • Placement of Nexplanon • Evaluate patients in triage for pre-term/term labor, rupture of membranes, bleeding, hypertension, pre-eclampsia, abdominal pain, and other obstetric concerns • Attending physician always assigned for backup support Advanced Practitioner Support & Benefits: • Competitive compensation • Medical, Dental, Vision coverage • 401(k) retirement plan • CME allowance • Licensure and malpractice coverage • Tuition reimbursement available • Structured onboarding with ongoing mentorship • Dedicated internal Office of Advanced Practice committed to professional growth and development • Comprehensive job, classroom, and procedural training for new and experienced providers Qualifications: • Graduate of an accredited Advanced Practitioner program • Licensed Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, or Nurse Midwife • Labor & Delivery or Women’s Health specialty experience preferred Program & System Highlights: • Large tertiary academic medical center environment • Major teaching site responsible for training OB/GYN residents • High-acuity, collaborative academic practice setting
