Pay: $160/hour
Coverage: 4 days per month
Schedule: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM + overnight call 3:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Credentialing: Approximately 30 days
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) with cardiothoracic surgery experience for a hospital-based CT Surgery opportunity in Arizona.
Schedule & Coverage
Approximately 4 days per month
Day shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Overnight call: 3:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Weekend/after-hours call may be included depending on assigned coverage
Hospital-based position
Credentialing timeframe: approximately 30 days
Clinical Responsibilities
The NP will support the cardiothoracic surgery service with:
Management of approximately 10–15 CVICU/Stepdown patients per day
Support for approximately 1–2 surgeries per day
Preoperative and postoperative patient management
Cardiothoracic surgery rounding and inpatient care
Surgical assistance
Temporary pacemaker removal
Chest tube removal
IABP removal
Arterial line placement
Other CT Surgery procedures and clinical duties as needed
Overnight call coverage
EMR: Cerner
Hospital: 199 beds
Support Staff: CT Surgeon
Required Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of recent cardiothoracic surgery experience
Proficiency with EVH (Endoscopic Vein Harvesting) strongly preferred/required
Graduate of an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program
Completion of an RN/NP First Assistant Program
Current unrestricted Arizona APRN license
Medical-Surgical or NP certification through ANCC or AANP
ACLS and BLS through the American Heart Association
DEA required
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Acute Care NP with strong cardiothoracic surgery experience who is comfortable managing CVICU/stepdown patients, assisting with surgery, performing bedside procedures, and responding to overnight call.
Candidates with 3+ years of recent CT Surgery experience and EVH proficiency are strongly encouraged to apply.
Earn $160/hour with only approximately 4 days of coverage needed per month.
