Position: Nurse Practitioner- Cardiothoracic Surgery
Start: ASAP
Setting: OR only (1st assist) - Call for OR only no office with OR, call back if needed
Schedule: Monday-Friday = 7a-4p + Night Call 4p-7a.
Saturday & Sunday = 24 Hours On Call (7a-7a)
Average Number of Patients Per Day: 10 outpatient; 5-8 inpatient
Documentation System/EMR: EPIC
Required Duties: Assist in Surgery, Write Prescriptions, Rounding, Order Tests, Pre-Op Physical Exams, Suture Removal, Maquet Vein Harvesting required.

Responsibilities
- First Assist in Cardiothoracic Surgery (OR)
- Endoscopic vein harvesting ( Maquet required)
- Hospital rounding
- Pre-operative evaluations and physical exams
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests
- Write prescriptions
- Chest tube removal
- Pacing wire removal
- Wound care, including suture/staple removal and debridement
- Cardiac rehabilitation coordination
- Complete patient documentation in EPIC
- Collaborate with surgeons and multidisciplinary care teams
- Respond to emergencies using ACLS/CPR protocols
Requirements
- Board Certified Nurse Practitioner (AANP)
- Active Indiana license
- Vein harvesting experience is required (Maquet)
- Must be able to cover most/all of the open blocks of dates
- First Assist CT surgery experience required
- ACLS & BLS certifications
- New graduates will not be considered
