Job description
We are seeking experienced Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants for a 13-week Cardiothoracic Surgery locum assignment at a Level I academic medical center. This opportunity is ideal for experienced cardiac surgery first assists with expertise in endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) and complex adult cardiac procedures.
Assignment Details
- 13-week assignment
- Scheduled shifts with rotating call
Schedule
- Regular shift: 6:00 AM–6:30 PM
- Weeknight call: 6:00 PM–6:00 AM (1 night per week)
- Weekend call: 6:00 AM–6:00 AM (rotating)
- Monthly schedule provided by the facility
Practice Setting
- Academic Medical Center
- Cardiothoracic/Cardiac Surgery Operating Room
- Adult patient population
- Epic EMR
Clinical Responsibilities
- OR First Assist for adult cardiac surgery
- Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
- Aortic, mitral, and tricuspid valve repair and replacement
- Ascending aortic surgery
- Left atrial appendage exclusion
- Maze procedures
- Redo sternotomies
- Mechanical circulatory support procedures (Impella, ECMO cannulation, IABP exposure)
- Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH)
- Sternotomy opening and closure
- Chest tube placement
- Temporary pacing wire placement
Program Details
- Approximately 517 pump cases annually
- Maquet EVH System utilized
Team Structure
- 5 Cardiac Surgeons
- Intensivist
- Multidisciplinary cardiac surgery team
Requirements
- Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- Board Certified
- Active Missouri license or willingness to obtain one
- Minimum 2 years of independent adult cardiac surgery OR first assist experience
- Trauma Level I experience required
- Epic experience required
- BLS required
- NPs: RNFA preferred
Credentialing
- Temporary privileges may be available
