Job description
We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a locum opportunity supporting a Cardiovascular & Vascular Surgery service in Oklahoma. This assignment focuses on first assisting in complex cardiovascular and vascular procedures, including endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH), with scheduled daytime coverage and call responsibilities.
Assignment Details
- PRN and occasional PTO coverage
- Coverage window: August 24 – November 27 (dates to be determined)
- Scheduled daytime coverage with call
- No rounding responsibilities
Schedule
- 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Scheduled shifts plus on-call coverage
Practice Setting
- Acute Care Hospital
- Cardiovascular & Vascular Surgery
- Epic EMR
Clinical Responsibilities
- Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH) for coronary artery bypass procedures
- First Assist in Cardiovascular and Vascular surgery
- Intraoperative surgical support
- Assist with abdominal aortic aneurysm repairs
- Assist with vascular bypass grafting
- First-call responsibilities
- No inpatient rounding
Patient Volume
- Approximately 3 patients per day
- Adult and geriatric patient population
Team Structure
- Cardiovascular and Vascular Surgeons
- Advanced Practice Providers
- Registered Nurses
- Operating Room and Cardiovascular teams
Requirements
Nurse Practitioner
- Board Certified
- RNFA (Registered Nurse First Assistant) certification required
Physician Assistant
- NCCPA certification required
All APPs
- Minimum of 2 years of experience
- Demonstrated Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH) experience
- Experience first assisting in cardiovascular and vascular surgery
- Oklahoma DEA & CSR required
- Oklahoma license preferred
- BLS & ACLS required
- Ability to work collaboratively with surgeons and multidisciplinary OR teams
Credentialing
- Approximately 60-day credentialing timeframe
- Clean background with no credentialing red flags
Ideal Candidate
An experienced Cardiovascular/Vascular Surgery NP or PA with proven EVH and first assist experience who is comfortable providing operative support, taking first call, and working closely with surgeons and OR teams in a high-acuity surgical environment.
