Cardiothoracic Surgery (NP)
Position Overview
Seeking an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner to provide hospital-based coverage. The provider must be proficient as a first assist in cardiothoracic surgery, including endoscopic vein harvesting, and participate in 24-hour call coverage for emergent cases.
Compensation:
Orientation: $110/hr
On Call: $1,630 per 24 hours
24 Hour Holiday Call: $2,445 per 24 hours
Call Back: $215/hr
Holiday Call Back: $320/hr
Schedule
Coverage Dates:
July 20–26, 2026
August 7–9, 2026
August 12–16, 2026
24-hour coverage (7:00 AM – 7:00 AM)
Includes daytime OR responsibilities and overnight call

Hospital-based
Cardiothoracic Surgery
Responsibilities
First assist in cardiothoracic surgical procedures
Perform endoscopic vein harvesting
Provide 24-hour call coverage
Respond to emergent operating room cases
Handle overnight phone call responsibilities as needed

Board Certified Physician Assistant
Active Nebraska license or active IMLC Letter of Qualification (LOQ)
Extensive cardiothoracic surgery first assist experience
Proficiency in endoscopic vein harvesting (required)
Epic experience highly preferred
Availability for the requested coverage dates
Clean malpractice history highly preferred
Additional Information
Emergency privileges may be available
Credentialing timeframe: 60–90 days
Completed credentialing application must be returned within 48 hours of receipt
Local candidates preferred
Preferred hotel accommodations available
No flight reimbursement; providers should indicate their city of travel at the time of presentation
