Clinical Role
RecruitWell is seeking a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for locums Cardiovascular/Thoracic Surgery coverage in Salem, Virginia. This full-time role includes OR, inpatient, clinic, ICU, and call responsibilities with first-assist duties in the CVOR.

• November 11

• November 16–21

December 2026

• December 16–19

• December 23–28

Assignment Details

• Full-time coverage

• Day shift: 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM

• Daytime responsibilities may include hospital, OR, ICU, and clinic coverage

• Call: 4:30 PM – 7:00 AM the following morning

• 24/7 coverage support needed during scheduled assignment blocks

Clinical Details & Responsibilities

• Provide Cardiothoracic Surgery call coverage

• Round on inpatients

• Manage clinic patients

• Work alongside the Cardiothoracic Surgeon in the CVOR

• Function as surgical first assist

• Perform endoscopic vein harvesting

• Assist with additional surgical procedures as needed

• Complete timely clinical documentation

• Approximately 25 patients

Call Details

• After-hours CT Surgery call

• Low expected volume of after-hours CT calls

Practice Environment

• OR

• Inpatient

• ICU

• Outpatient clinic

• EMR: eClinicalWorks

Requirements

• Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

• Board Certification required

• Active Virginia license required

• BCLS required

• ACLS required

• Must be experienced with surgical first assist and endoscopic vein harvesting
