Locums – Saint Louis, Missouri, NP/PA Cardiothoracic Surgery Opening

Clinical Role

• Start date: November 25, 2026
• 26-week assignment
• Ongoing Cardiothoracic Surgery coverage
• Adult patient population
• OR first assist with clinic support and call
• Academic hospital setting
• Approximately 517 pump cases annually

Schedule & Call

• Regular shift: 6:00 am-6:30 pm
• Weeknight call: 6:00 pm-6:00 am, approximately 1 night per week
• Weekend call: 6:00 am-6:00 am, rotating
• Monthly coverage varies; schedule provided by the client

Procedures & Clinical Expectations

• CABG
• Aortic, mitral, and tricuspid valve repair/replacement
• Ascending aortic surgery, including emergent dissections
• Left atrial appendage exclusion and Maze procedures
• Redo sternotomies
• Impella, ECMO cannulation, and IABP exposure
• Endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH)
• Sternotomy opening and closure
• Chest tube and temporary pacing wire placement
• Maquet EVH System
• Epic EMR

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of independent adult cardiac surgery OR first-assist experience
• Recent high-acuity Cardiothoracic Surgery experience
• Recent VV/VA ECMO experience
• Recent Impella 5.5 experience
• Recent experience managing postoperative aortic dissection patients
• Level I trauma experience preferred
• Candidates with 3+ years of Level II experience may be considered if experienced with the required procedures and comparable acuity

Requirements & Credentialing

• Board certification required
• Missouri license required; willing to license
• BLS required
• RNFA preferred for Nurse Practitioners
