Job description
We are seeking an experienced Surgical Nurse Practitioner (NP) for an ongoing PRN locum opportunity in Potsdam, NY. The provider will support General Surgery, OB/GYN, and Orthopedic services with a combination of Surgical First Assist duties, OR coverage, and surgical floor responsibilities.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced surgical APP who is comfortable working in both the operating room and inpatient setting.
Job Responsibilities
• Assist surgeons with positioning, suctioning, drainage, irrigation, and hemostasis
• Assist with wound and vessel closure using sutures, staples, or adhesives
• Apply appropriate pressure and assist with bleeding control
• Provide surgical floor coverage and inpatient management
• Round on patients and complete progress notes
• Manage orders, discharges, and consultations
• Coordinate patient care with surgeons, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
• Provide perioperative and postoperative patient management
• Primarily support General Surgery, OB/GYN, and Orthopedic patients
Qualifications
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience required
• Robotics experience required
• Board Certified
• Active New York State NP license required
• AHA BLS, ACLS, and ATLS required
• EPIC experience required
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Must be able to work independently and collaboratively
• Residents and Fellows are not accepted
Working Hours
• December 14–18: 7:00 AM–5:00 PM
• December 18–21: 5:00 PM–7:00 AM
• December 28–30: 3 × 12-hour shifts
• Weeknight call: 5:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Weekend call: Friday 5:00 PM–Monday 7:00 AM
• Weekend rounding: Saturday & Sunday, 8:00 AM–12:00 PM
• Ongoing PRN coverage available
