Job description

Experienced Surgical Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant needed for a full-time locums opportunity in an acute care hospital setting beginning September 2026. This 26-week assignment offers a Tuesday–Friday schedule with 10-hour day shifts and opportunities for additional weeknight and weekend call coverage. Providers who are open to fully relocating for the assignment are strongly preferred.

This role includes a combination of Surgical First Assist operating room coverage and medical surgical floor responsibilities. The provider will work primarily with General Surgery, OB/GYN, and Orthopedic patients, assisting with procedures such as cauterization, suturing, wound closure, hemostasis, suction and drainage, patient positioning, and surgical assistance. Floor responsibilities include rounding, progress notes, order management, discharges, and consults.

Candidates must have robotics experience, at least 2 years of recent surgical experience, active board certification, and an active state license. Epic experience is required along with current AHA BLS, ACLS, and ATLS certifications. Ideal candidates will have strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Additional call opportunities may include 1–2 weekends per month and up to 4 weeknight call shifts monthly. Weekend call includes rounding responsibilities. Providers will work alongside anesthesia staff, nursing support, and additional APP coverage in a multidisciplinary surgical setting.
