Surgical First Assist PA/NP Opportunity – New York
Seeking an experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to provide a combination of Surgical First Assist OR coverage and Medical Surgical Floor support. Responsibilities include assisting in surgical procedures, wound closure, hemostasis, suturing, patient positioning, suction/drainage, rounding, progress notes, order management, consults, and discharges. Will primarily support General Surgery, OB/GYN, and Orthopedic patients.
Schedule:
- Days: 7a–3p
- Weekday Call: 7a–5p or 3p–11p
- Weekend Call: Friday 5p – Monday 7a
Unit Details:
- 109-bed acute care unit
- Adult patient population with varying acuity
- Provider ratio: 1:10–15
- EMR: Epic
- Automated dispensing system: Pixys
Requirements:
- Active New York license
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience
- AHA BLS, ACLS, and ATLS certifications required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills preferred
Additional Policies:
- 30-minute required lunch break
- Overtime must be approved
- Cell phone use prohibited on unit
- 2-hour notice required for call-ins to supervisor and agency
