We’re looking for an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with surgical expertise to support a high-performing operating room team. This is a hands-on role ideal for clinicians who enjoy being actively involved in procedures while also contributing to patient care across the full surgical continuum.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Shift: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Pay Range: $55/hr– $70/hr

Key Responsibilities

In the Operating Room

  • Assist surgeons with critical procedural tasks, including tissue handling, suturing, and maintaining visibility of the surgical field
  • Support bleeding control through appropriate techniques and tools
  • Contribute to advanced surgical cases, including minimally invasive and robotic procedures
  • Provide suctioning, irrigation, and real-time procedural support

Patient Care & Coordination

  • Review patient histories and surgical plans to ensure readiness
  • Partner with RNs and surgical techs to coordinate care and workflow
  • Monitor patient status intraoperatively under physician direction
  • Participate in post-procedure care, including wound management and recovery transitions

Surgical Preparation & Safety

  • Ensure all instruments, supplies, and sterile fields are properly prepared
  • Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and draping
  • Maintain strict adherence to aseptic technique and safety protocols
  • Verify instrument and sponge counts to support patient safety standards

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • One of the following required:
    • Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA)
    • Physician Assistant (NCCPA certified)
    • Nurse Practitioner with surgical certification
  • Minimum of 2 years in a surgical or operating room environment
  • Scrub experience preferred

  • Strong understanding of surgical procedures, anatomy, and instrumentation
  • Excellent technical skill, including dexterity and coordination
  • Sound clinical judgment and ability to adapt quickly in complex situations
  • Effective communicator with a collaborative mindset

Work Environment

  • Fast-paced surgical setting with exposure to standard operating room conditions
  • Extended periods of standing and use of surgical attire required
  • Flexibility for on-call shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
