The Medical Center in the Coastal Plain region of eastern North Carolina is seeking a Board-Certified Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide locum inpatient coverage. Providers will complete a brief on-site orientation the day before starting.
This assignment is well-suited for locum clinicians who prioritize strong pay rates, flexible scheduling, and the ability to secure a more manageable work-life balance while supporting a high-acuity neurosurgery service.
Position Details
- Facility: Hospital
- Location: North Carolina
- Start Date: June 1, 2026
- Duration: Ongoing during recruitment
- Shift: Day shift, 7a–7p, with flexibility that supports providers seeking improved schedule control
- Orientation: Required the day before the first shift
Clinical Scope
- Inpatient-Only neurosurgery APP role
- Level 1 Trauma Center
- Collaborative team of 9 Neurosurgeons and 9 APPs
- 24/7 inpatient support
- Required certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA)
- Procedures include:
- Admissions and discharges
- Consultations
- OR first assist (optional)
- Night discharges are uncommon but may occur
