We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Trauma Surgery Nurse Practitioner – Nocturnist to join a high-acuity Trauma and Acute Care Surgery team. This permanent night-shift role offers the opportunity to deliver advanced surgical and trauma care in a fast-paced environment while working collaboratively with trauma surgeons and multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate thrives in critical situations, practices with confidence and autonomy, and is committed to delivering exceptional patient outcomes during overnight coverage.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive Trauma and Acute Care Surgery services during overnight shifts
• Manage trauma admissions and emergency general surgery patients across inpatient settings
• Perform detailed patient assessments and develop evidence-based treatment plans
• Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic tests and imaging
• Support trauma surgeons during procedures, resuscitations, and ongoing patient management
• Respond to urgent and emergent trauma and surgical situations
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nursing staff, and ancillary services
• Document all patient care accurately using EPIC EMR
• Maintain compliance with medical staff bylaws, privileging, and quality standards
• Participate in quality improvement, education, and professional development initiatives

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a Master’s degree in Nursing
• Current Nurse Practitioner certification (ANCC or AANPCB)
• Unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Colorado
• Eligible for DEA registration and Medicare/Medicaid provider status
• Current BLS certification (required)
• Minimum of 2 years of Trauma Surgery experience or completion of a surgical fellowship
• Clean malpractice and licensure history (preferred)

Working Hours

• Night shifts only
• 3 x 12-hour overnight shifts
• Schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

• Advanced clinical expertise in trauma and acute care surgery
• Strong decision-making skills in high-acuity environments
• Ability to work independently during overnight coverage
• Excellent procedural, assessment, and critical-thinking skills
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities
• Proficiency with electronic medical records (EPIC preferred)
• Ability to manage multiple complex cases simultaneously
