Position Overview:
The Guthrie Medical Group is seeking a dedicated and experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP)—Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Associate (PA)—to join our dynamic General Surgery/Surgical Oncology inpatient team. This is a full-time, no-call position focused on collaborative, patient-centered care alongside surgical residents and attending physicians.
Job Responsibilities
• Provide high-quality inpatient care to post-operative and acutely ill surgical patients on the General Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Colorectal, HPB (Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary), and Endocrine Surgery services.
• Collaborate closely with surgical residents and attendings as an integral part of the multidisciplinary care team.
• Support and enhance patient care during times when residents are in the operating room or participating in protected educational activities.
• Assist with:
o Daily patient rounds and clinical assessments
o Progress notes, admission and discharge documentation
o Discharge planning and coordination with case management and social work
• Act as a clinical resource for residents and other team members regarding routine post-operative care and inpatient management.
• Communicate and coordinate with outpatient surgical APPs to ensure continuity of care and appropriate post-discharge follow-up.
• Interface with consulting services and ancillary departments to support comprehensive inpatient care.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and team-based problem solving.
Qualifications
• Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Associate in [State].
• National certification as an NP or PA (e.g., AANP, ANCC, NCCPA).
• At least 1 year of experience in an inpatient, surgical, or hospital medicine setting strongly preferred.
• Prior experience with post-operative management and complex surgical patients is highly desirable.
• BLS/ACLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Working Hours
• Salary Range: $115K to $130K
• No call or overnight shifts
