Position Overview
Pioneer Pulmonology, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our North Pinellas outpatient Pulmonary and Lung Nodule Clinic in Tarpon Springs, Florida. This daytime, Monday–Friday role offers 8-hour shifts, paid time off, and the opportunity to provide high-quality specialty care in a collaborative clinic setting.
The Pulmonary APP will care for new and established patients with respiratory conditions such as COPD, asthma, chronic cough, pulmonary nodules, interstitial lung disease, and sleep-related breathing disorders. The role includes dedicated lung nodule evaluation and surveillance, requiring sound clinical judgment, clear communication, timely follow-up, and close coordination with physicians, APP colleagues, nurse navigators, clinic leadership, and staff.
Key Responsibilities
· Evaluate and manage new and follow-up patients with pulmonary conditions, including COPD, asthma, chronic cough, pulmonary nodules, interstitial lung disease, sleep-related breathing disorders, and other respiratory illnesses.
· Obtain histories, perform physical exams, develop evidence-based treatment plans, monitor response to therapy, and adjust care in collaboration with supervising physicians.
· Order, interpret, and review pulmonary diagnostics, including PFTs, imaging, laboratory testing, sleep studies, and related studies within scope of practice.
· Manage pulmonary therapies, including inhalers, nebulized treatments, oxygen therapy, and other pulmonary medications in accordance with clinical guidelines.
· Support the Lung Nodule Program through nodule evaluation, surveillance, care coordination, and timely follow-up of incidental and screening-detected findings.
· Coordinate care with pulmonologists, interventional pulmonologists, primary care providers, hospital teams, nurse navigators, and ancillary staff to support continuity of care.
· Educate patients and families regarding disease management, treatment plans, smoking cessation, medication adherence, oxygen therapy, and preventive health measures.
· Maintain timely documentation and support referrals, diagnostic coordination, quality improvement, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and a collaborative clinic environment.
Qualifications
· Current Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner license, or eligibility for licensure, in Florida.
· Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
· Pulmonary, sleep medicine, internal medicine, family medicine, or specialty clinic experience preferred.
· Strong clinical judgment, communication, teamwork, documentation, and patient-centered care skills.
