Job description
We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Pulmonology team in a Level 1 trauma hospital. This is an inpatient PRN position providing high-quality care in either the Medical ICU or Neuro ICU. The ideal candidate is skilled in critical care procedures, comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment, and collaborates effectively with attending physicians, residents, and fellow advanced practitioners.
Job Responsibilities
Participate in patient admissions, daily rounds, and collaborative treatment planning with attending physicians and multidisciplinary teams
Perform procedures such as central line and arterial line placement
Work within a teaching environment, mentoring and collaborating with residents in the Medical ICU
Contribute to care for specialized Neuro ICU populations, including stroke and endovascular patients
Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
Provide coverage for PRN shifts, including possible holidays, on a 13-hour day or night schedule
Qualifications
Certifications: ACLS and BLS required
Experience: ICU or critical care experience strongly preferred
Education: Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program
Procedural Competence: Central line and arterial line placement
Ability to function effectively in a high-acuity, fast-paced ICU environment
Working Hours
Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 6:00 AM
Coverage may include holidays and weekends
Work alongside other advanced practitioners and attending physicians
Skills
Procedural skills: central line placement, arterial line placement
Strong clinical assessment and decision-making abilities in ICU settings
Effective collaboration and communication skills for a multidisciplinary team
Ability to work independently and manage high-acuity patients
Familiarity with ICU monitoring, ventilator management, and pulmonary care
