Senior Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) | HYBRID!!
Job at a glance
Job description
A well-respected nonprofit behavioral health organization in New York City is looking for a Senior Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. The role blends hands-on patient care with mentoring and clinical leadership.
Most of your week will go to treating children, adolescents, and adults in community outpatient clinics. The rest goes to helping new providers and NP students build confidence and skill. It’s a hybrid role, so you’ll have some flexibility in your week while doing very meaningful work.
What You’ll Do
- Guide newly hired psych providers through their first few months with weekly check-ins, EHR support, and help learning the system
- Step in to cover prescriptions and refills when other prescribers are out
- Provide psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, medication management, and treatment planning for patients across the lifespan
- Help clinic teams with complex cases, clinical consultations, and urgent clinical concerns
- Precept and support psychiatric NP students and early-career NPs, including those still building independence in prescribing and treatment
- Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and recovery
- Promote evidence-based psychiatric practice across the clinics you support
- Work with program directors and clinical leaders to strengthen integrated care and streamline operations
- Provide temporary coverage at clinics with open psychiatric positions, as needed
- Guide discharge and aftercare planning as patients progress
What You’ll Bring
- An active New York State psychiatric NP license and DEA registration
- PMHNP-BC certification
- Significant psychiatric experience with a wide range of diagnoses and age groups, from children to older adults
- A passion for teaching, precepting, or mentoring new providers
- Spanish fluency (strongly preferred)
- The ability to work on site at least 2 days per week, with occasional travel to other sites in NYC and Westchester
Why You’ll Love It
- A salary of $140,000 - $150,000
- A hybrid schedule, with as few as 2 days a week on site
- A leadership-track role that lets you teach, mentor, and influence clinical quality
- A mission-driven organization known for culturally affirming, person-centered care
- Varied, meaningful work with a diverse patient population across all ages
- A supportive clinical community with experienced psychiatric leadership
