Job description
Looking for a PMHNP role where your experience really counts? This senior Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner position mixes direct patient care with mentoring the next generation of psych NPs.
You'll join a mission-driven outpatient behavioral health team in the New York City area. The team serves children, adolescents, and adults. The schedule is hybrid, with a minimum of 2 days per week in person. It's a great fit for a PMHNP who enjoys both clinical work and teaching.
What You'll Do
- Provide psychiatric assessments and medication management for pediatric and adult patients.
- Support and precept psychiatric NP students and help with teaching sessions.
- Offer prescription and refill coverage for fellow providers.
- Onboard new psychiatric providers, including showing them the EHR and how programs run.
- Hold regular weekly check-ins with new NPs during their first 3 months.
- Consult on complex cases and help with escalations.
- Review patient progress and coordinate discharge and aftercare plans.
- Teach patients about their mental health and recovery strategies.
- Bring evidence-based best practices to the clinical team.
- Support program leaders with day-to-day administrative needs.
- Cover limited hours at sites with psychiatric openings as needed.
Qualifications
- Active NYS Nurse Practitioner license and DEA.
- PMHNP-BC board certified.
- MSN or higher from an accredited program.
- Strong outpatient or community psychiatric experience across a variety of diagnoses and age groups.
- Experience or strong interest in training and supervising new NPs and students.
- Occasional local travel between NYC-area locations.
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
